The Significance of the Doctor of Nursing Practice Degree in Nursing
Explain the relevance of the DNP scholarly project to nursing clinical practice. (Related to MO 1,2,3, 4)
Now that you have explained the relevance of the DNP scholarly project to nursing clinical practice, begin to think about what you want to improve in your clinical setting. In next module”s discussion board, you will be asked to identify what you want to improve in your clinical setting. In preparation for the next module, list here in response to this #4, one or two potential problems that you are considering for your DNP project.
The nursing profession, in its entirety, is epitomized by the acquisition and development of clinically relevant skills useful in solving presenting clinical problems. Doctorate nursing programs embody the highest achievement in nursing education and are a representation of nursing excellence. Moran et al. (2020) detail the significance of advancing nursing education in nursing care. Advancing nursing education confers considerable benefits to patient care. Dobrowolska et al. (2021) note that the overarching principle behind pursuing doctorate nursing programs is the resolve to acquire additional skills relevant to solving clinical problems and the reward it presents to the nurses themselves. Nurses with doctorate degrees have better rewarding jobs and a significant influence in clinical decision-making positions. For these reasons, nurse leaders encouraged the development of practice doctorate nursing degrees. These positions consolidate their positions as healthcare leaders and give them better satisfaction.
Chapter three details application and integration as important stratiform under doctorate nursing degree scholarship. While scholarship on application focuses on execution, scholarship on integration focuses on the creation of novel approaches from existing guidelines. Example of scholarships relevant to a doctorate nursing degree includes the scholarship of improvisation and scholarship of teaching. Scholarship of teaching involves providing useful instructions and methodologies that are valuable in influencing clinical outcomes. On the other hand, scholarship of improvisation involves coming up with innovations that enhance healthcare outcomes.
The DNP scholarly project is an extrapolation of clinical nursing practice. These projects interrogate the ability of nurses to solve real-time problems within the dynamic healthcare landscape (Carpenter et al., 2021). These projects are based on aspects of clinical practice and serve to address gaps within practice that are significant in improving clinical outcomes. This highlights its relevance in nursing clinical practice.
